Vol. 39 "The New Celine, Top 7" CELINE
Arguably the most anticipated event of this spring: the debut men's collection from the new CÉLINE. The Editor Demon King, who has interviewed Artistic, Creative, and Image Director Hedi Slimane multiple times and closely followed the evolution of his creations, has handpicked seven items from the highly talked-about first collection!

TomokiOne of the highlights of the Spring/Summer collection is the novel collaboration with Christian Marclay, a contemporary musician and artist. Works by the master of visual arts, using manga onomatopoeia, are featured as monochrome embroidery on the back of outerwear or as colorful decorations with sequins on teddy jackets, adding an edgy charm to the collection.
When I see collaborations like this, the first thing that comes to mind is the world of Katsuhiro Otomo's "AKIRA." As a generation that received a modern art education from Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, I never imagined that the essence of Japanese manga would gain such high acclaim as art. I don't have a deep background in manga culture, so my personal emotion is subdued, but seeing Japanese culture incorporated into contemporary art and then linked with fashion gives me a rather peculiar feeling.
Teddy jacket ¥1,300,000, mods parka ¥345,000 (Limited to CÉLINE Omotesando, CÉLINE Shinjuku Isetan Men's, CÉLINE Osaka Hankyu Men's), shirt ¥66,000, tie ¥23,000 *All prices are approximate. (CÉLINE BY HEDI SLIMANE / CÉLINE JAPAN 03-5414-1401)
