Yusuke“This coat was the very first item we decided to create for ‘JANTJE_ONTEMBAAR,’ the project with Shingo Katori that launched at the end of August.”

“The base for this was a SANYO Balmacaan coat from the 80s that I owned. The name Balmacaan comes from the town of Balmacaan in Scotland, and it’s characterized by its stand-fall collar and relaxed raglan sleeves. It’s also commonly called a single-collar coat, and it’s a fundamental item in men’s fashion.”

“My original coat, which I found in storage, didn’t have a lining, but this coat has a detachable liner featuring a motif of a painting by Katori, so it can also be worn lightly on its own in early spring.”

“The same model in check and a reversible coat were developed as variations from this. The coloring turned out very well, and it’s a piece I’m very fond of myself.”
