A collaboration with Masahiro Maruyama, whose product design is captivating

MASAHIROMARUYAMA × Continuer Bespoke Model

Continuer, an eyewear shop in Ebisu that celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, has completed a bespoke model in collaboration with MASAHIROMARUYAMA, a brand that possesses a unique presence among those they carry. This design takes an approach that deviates slightly from the current classic boom in the fashion scene.

Based on the popular model "MM-0003," this is a bespoke edition. On sale from Saturday, February 23rd.

Masahiro Maruyama, an independent eyewear designer, launched his Japanese eyewear brand "MASAHIROMARUYAMA" in 2011. The brand offers collections that appeal to the viewer's emotions, not just through the concept of "rough sketches" drawn by hand, but also through multifaceted expressions inspired by things like mountain ranges, melting ice, ceramic forms, the warmth of a hand-drawn sketch, and the design process itself.

"MASAHIROMARUYAMA" is guided by the theme "= unfinished art. =". The functionality as eyewear is, of course, paramount, but the overall balance and design expression of the frames are only made possible through the existence of highly skilled artisans. The meticulous dialogue between the designer and these craftspeople, capturing subtle nuances, leads to the creation of these distinctive pieces.──This is the meaning imbued in the theme.

For this bespoke model, Continuer selected "MM-0003" from the "Dessin" collection, released in 2011, which was particularly popular. The fine, textured lines create a subtle individuality, while the slightly squared front shape projects a sharp impression, resulting in a design that sits comfortably on the face.

The bespoke model comes in a transparent clear gray, offering a different take from the current classic trend. It embodies MASAHIROMARUYAMA's approach, blending modern and artistic elements for an abstract aesthetic of exquisite beauty. The engraving on the inside of the temple uses white, unlike the regular colors. The combination of the glossy gray, reminiscent of silver, and white is striking.

As a novelty for the bespoke model, a handmade "pin badge" shaped like the six-pointed star found on the frames is included (limited quantity, available while supplies last). This complimentary item also conveys the brand's dedication to craftsmanship.
