Yusuke“For me, dad sneakers are already a part of my wardrobe. This season, with the boom they’re experiencing, many brands are releasing various types of sneakers one after another.
The variations range from decorative styles like Gucci's to the smooth types I'm wearing from McQueen and Marni. There are also sneakers with aging or dirt processing, like those from Margiela, and I find it interesting how each brand's unique character is incorporated throughout.”
“In the first place, these kinds of voluminous shoes pair exceptionally well with oversized coats. It’s been said for a long time that the ‘three necks’—scarf (neck), gloves (wrists), and shoes (ankles)—follow a natural progression where if one gets bigger, the others do too. A big coat, a baggy hoodie, and voluminous footwear create a balanced look stylistically.
“Perhaps there’s a growing sentiment for a relaxed overall look. I’ve experienced various trends, from tight to loose, but fashion is like the ebb and flow of waves. Looking at myself wearing these voluminous sneakers, I feel that deeply.”
