Yusuke“The items I’ve picked this time are ones that immediately struck me as good when I saw them at the autumn/winter shows.”

At shows where new collections are lined up, I look not only with a professional eye but also with the thought of wearing them myself. When you actually try them on, they can look different from how they appeared on the runway, and often they look even better than they did on the runway. I touch the fabrics, check the comfort, and quickly scan the prices. It’s a place that makes you excited about what to wear next season. That’s what a show is to me.

Personally, I was drawn to Stella McCartney and Ami this season. Both have outstanding outerwear, like coats, which caught my attention. And Hunter, which I’ve been following for several seasons, feels very free-spirited. They produce unique and interesting items. I was particularly interested in their boot bag. For someone who wears rain boots at the slightest drizzle these days, I think it’s an incredibly practical item.

As a stylist, I often have the option to place personal orders at shows, but I stopped doing that some time ago. This is because my feelings often change between when I order an item at a show and when it finally arrives. I’ve come to believe that ultimately, it’s best to see the product thoroughly in a store, try it on, and then buy it.
