Shorts, à la carte

The★Best 7 7KOROBI TOMOKI

This summer's shorts offer more variety than ever, expanding your choices. They are the epitome of "liberated," but pairing them with a T-shirt and flip-flops should be reserved for weekends only. When wearing them around town, a little effort is needed. So, how will Editor Demon King Tomoki style his shorts this summer?

Vol. 22: Shorts, à la carte [ʃɔ':rt pæ'nts]

Yusuke“Shorts have seen various iterations in recent years, but this year is particularly rich. Among them, I'm drawn to styles that are slightly shorter with a relaxed silhouette. While I'm tempted to try micro-mini lengths, for balance and ease of styling, I find just above the knee to be perfect.

For the top, you could pair them with a fitted track jacket, or opt for a tailored jacket for a chic look. I've styled them with high socks because, even though they're shorts, I want to wear them with the same intention as dressing up for a formal occasion. While casual styling with T-shirts and flip-flops is acceptable for off-duty days, it's important to maintain a polished appearance for work or when meeting people.

It's even better if there's a visual contrast, like pairing plain shorts with brightly patterned high socks, or patterned shorts with plain ones. As a fan of high socks, I feel that shorts and high socks will become a standard combination this summer.”
