While Editor Demon King has many current obsessions, his latest fixation is vividly bright “red pants.” He’s still a long way from sixty, so why the sudden passion? The reason seems to lie in a place that makes you think, “Ah, I see!”

Sukezane“I bought this VETEMENTS rubberized raincoat in New York in February. While taking a walk from my hotel to a café in Tribeca’s arcade, I bumped into Take-naka, a stylist based in New York. When I asked him, ‘Do you know any good select shops?’ he recommended a store called ‘Totokaelo,’ located about a two- or three-minute walk from the Bowery Hotel, where I made the purchase.”

This coat is a staple for VETEMENTS. The shop had it in yellow, white, and navy. I initially considered the yellow, but it had quite a few stains (I’m sensitive to such things), so I chose navy. I had been wanting a raincoat anyway, so this became my first VETEMENTS purchase.

It’s a simple design with just a logo on the back. The oversized fit makes it easy to throw on with any outfit, and I also like that the hood means I don’t need an umbrella for light rain. The cherry blossoms have already fallen, but the gentle rapeseed blossom rain season has arrived. I’m secretly looking forward to the rainy season in two months, thinking, ‘Bring on the real rainy season!’”
