HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO | September's style: DRESS-UP CHECK.
Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO in September: "DRESS-UP CHECK" to Color Your Intellectual Individuality
This Season's Hottest Check Patterns: Focus on Chic Arrangements
In an era where dress casual has become the norm, driven by office IT advancements and the cool biz/warm biz initiatives, and where new business leaders with creative, unconventional thinking are showcasing their free-spirited dress-up styles, Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO's September monthly theme proposes "DRESS-UP CHECK"—a sophisticated and mature way to wear checks. We are widely presenting elegant, adult check coordinations, primarily in the "Modern Traditional Style" section on the 5th floor and the "Men's Accessories" section in the basement 1st floor.

Achieve the Latest Dress-Up Look with "One-Tone Checks"!
This season, the revival of tailoring is the most talked-about trend in men's dresswear. Partly as a reaction to the casualization of fashion, the desire to dress correctly and beautifully is growing. Amidst this trend, British heritage patterns are at the forefront. Check patterns like classic tartan, glen check, and windowpane, particularly those with a reduced color palette—a "chic arrangement"—are gaining attention.
Mr. Yoshiaki Fuji, Buyer in the Business Wear Department, states, "We are combining the free-spirited dress-up styles of new business leaders seen on TV and in magazines with the check patterns trending for fall/winter. At Hankyu Men's, we propose a sophisticated adult "one-tone check" rather than multi-colored designs."
Jackets that are easy to incorporate into your outfits are key items. Focusing on one-tone checks in dark gray and navy, larger checks like windowpane and double-check feel fresh. We also offer shadow checks where the pattern stands out when light hits it.
Additionally, as an accent for modern coordination, incorporate one-tone checks into accessories like ties and cufflinks to enjoy the new season's style."
5th Floor | Kentshire
Elegant Charcoal x Black Houndstooth Exudes Adult Dignity
Kentshire, which recently garnered attention for providing official suits to the J.League team "Jubilo Iwata" players, coaches, and staff this spring, proposes a refined style while pursuing "MODERN ENGLAND."
Here, we highlight a dress-casual styling centered around a wool jacket in an elegant charcoal x black houndstooth pattern. The classic jacket, featuring a barchetta pocket and flap/change pockets, is garment-washed to achieve a look that is neither too formal nor too casual.

Check Out Washable Functional Materials
Both the jacket and trousers introduced here use the moisture-wicking and heat-generating material "Soft Warmer." This slightly brushed flannel-like material features a soft texture, and the lining has heat-retaining properties, making it suitable for warm biz this winter.
The jacket, in a windowpane pattern—a basic of British trad—is an unstructured design with no padding, yet it creates a beautiful silhouette with its structured shoulder line. The gingham check fabric used for the chest and inner pockets adds an accent, and the chest pocket can be pulled out to resemble a pocket square. Enjoy styling it with the matching trousers made from the same material.
Trotter Jacket #25 ¥39,900, Trotter Trousers ¥18,900 (MACKINTOSH PHILOSOPHY / Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO)

This Season's Key Item: Simple Adult Checks
Ungrid, a Japanese brand, uses luxurious fabrics from Italian manufacturers like Canclini and is known for its sizing that is easy for Japanese people to wear. Production is also done domestically, with a commitment to craftsmanship driven by the desire to "be stylish even when the tie is removed." For example, the unique pattern, with stitching placed further back than usual, allows the shoulder area to fit neatly, ensuring comfort and a compact overall silhouette.

Basement 1st Floor | THE TIE
Tied-Up Style with Hankyu MEN'S TOKYO Exclusive Ties
Hankyu's original brand, THE TIE, consists of two labels: "THE TIE INTERNATIONAL," offering a wide range of easy-to-use stripes and various colors/patterns, and "THE TIE STANDARD," featuring a rich palette of solid colors with diverse expressions.
Here, we introduce ties that coordinate with the monthly theme "DRESS-UP CHECK." Made from a silk-wool blend, they have a unique luster and a melange (mixed) color tone, which is a trend this season, resulting in a calm, adult check pattern. They pair exceptionally well with woolen suits like Saxony and flannel.
