Dare to Incorporate a Black Tie into Your Usual V-Zone
This is a monthly series, 'Fairfax's Proposal,' from FAIRFAX, a leading Japanese brand for business shirts and accessories, highlighting essential items for suit styling. This month, we propose a fresh styling by swapping your usual navy tie for a black one.

Consider a Black Tie for Business Scenes
This season, Fairfax's standout color for ties is black. When we say black tie, we don't mean for formal wear, nor for a sleek, narrow tie look. Instead, we suggest pairing a bold black tie with your classic, everyday suit style.
In our August feature, we introduced a black regimental tie as part of a new Ivy style. This month, we highlight a black-based, large-patterned jacquard tie that evokes the elegance of the 1940s. Both the fabric and sewing are meticulously crafted in Japan. The white grosgrain tape on the back of the neck is a detail found on many vintage ties, designed to reinforce the area prone to wear and tear. Furthermore, the lining features a sax blue houndstooth pattern, showcasing uncompromising attention to detail even in unseen areas.

While black ties are often paired with monochrome outfits, we recommend a classic styling that tightens the V-zone by matching it with a grey plaid suit, a navy suit, or a blue striped shirt.
Incorporating a black-based tie into business attire might seem challenging at first glance. However, as evidenced by the black knit tie being a staple of Ivy style, black fits seamlessly with business suits. Simply replacing your usual navy tie with a black one can elevate your suit's V-zone, lending it a chic yet sophisticated flair.
