JOHN LOBB
The "FOWEY": A Modern Masterpiece of Craftsmanship
A Design Symbolizing John Lobb's Evolution
In Northampton, England, the John Lobb factory is known as "Westminster Works." For the town, there is a special day: October 25th. To honor the feast day of Saints Crispin and Crispinian, the patron saints of shoemakers, this year's Year Model, the "FOWEY," is released.

When making a crucial decision, fine shoes lend confidence.
Saint Crispin refers to the twin brothers, Crispinus and Crispinianus. The reason they are revered as patron saints of shoemakers lies in their life story. Though born into nobility, they dedicated themselves to spreading Christianity. Fleeing persecution, they journeyed from Rome to a town called Soissons. There, they continued their missionary work while also crafting shoes, which they reportedly gave to the poor.
Their feast day is October 25th. This date gained prominence through a speech delivered before the Battle of Agincourt in Shakespeare's *Henry V*: "He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd, and rouse him to a draught of cheer with friends. And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'" Inspired, the soldiers, though outnumbered, achieved victory.
What must the soldiers have felt on the eve of battle? Gazing down at their feet, reflecting on the past, and facing an uncertain future, they likely had no recourse but to rally themselves. In their dusty field of vision, their own shoes must have been present. Would they be able to return to this land after the war? To ensure that outcome, they would have to rouse themselves; the soldiers, looking at their shoes, would have resolved to do so.
When facing a significant decision, a man must choose fine shoes.
Shoes Fit for the Elite Warrior
In honor of Saint Crispin's Day, John Lobb has been creating Year Models since 1996. The 2015 model is the "FOWEY." As is customary for a Year Model, it embodies the pinnacle of John Lobb's craftsmanship.

The "FOWEY" is no exception, crafted from two exquisite pieces of museum calf leather, showcasing artisanal skill at every turn. One example is the hand-stitching that forms a graceful curve from the apron to the single eyelet. This process, using boar bristle to secure the thread, alone takes two hours.
Symbolizing its status as a special limited edition, the "FOWEY" features skin stitching on the toe. This technique, which makes the stitches between two pieces of leather appear as a single, seamless piece of hide, is mastered by only a handful of artisans. Its exquisite beauty imbues the "FOWEY" with the distinct allure of a Year Model.
The sole boasts a beveled waist, hand-sculpted in the tradition of the Prestige line, creating a captivating curve that appeals to the discerning gentleman, complemented by a refined welt that enchants shoe aficionados. These numerous techniques culminate in the 2015 John Lobb Year Model, a creation of sculptural, all-encompassing beauty.
The "FOWEY" will undoubtedly serve as a fitting pair of shoes to inspire the modern businessman.
