The last (wooden mold) known as the "military last," model 379X, was developed during World War II in the 1940s and was issued to American military officers and soldiers as dress uniform footwear. It is known as a last for military shoes.

This last survived the post-WWII era, and smaller sizes were sold as boys' shoes. However, after the 1980s, it lay dormant in warehouses, and shoes with last 379X were not sold until Lakota began its dealings with Alden.

The military last was revived exclusively for Japan in 1994 at Lakota's strong request. Furthermore, the Tanker Boot was conceived from Lakota's desire to "create American-style shoes."

The upper is made of box calf, and the outsole uses Water-Lock Leather, which is specially treated in a liquid within Alden's factory to enhance flexibility and durability. This sole, which provides excellent flexibility, is now used in various models, but its pioneer is this Military Plain-Toe.
