The Genesis of Bally's Finest Shoe, Scribe
In the early 1950s, Max Bally, the grandson of founder C.F. Bally, decided to launch a new line of handmade dress shoes. The inspiration came from the Hôtel Scribe on Paris's Rue Scribe. The elegant lifestyle, luxurious environment, and international clientele he observed there sparked the idea, leading to the creation of this ultimate dress shoe line. Named after the hotel, this series would later become a symbolic part of Bally's history.
The true elegance of the Scribe collection, which has continued since 1950, lies not only in its shoemaking craftsmanship but also in its materials and details. For the uppers, only the finest materials such as old natural calfskin and Vendôme suede are used. Characterized by meticulously precise triple and quadruple stitching, and perfectly executed broguing, the hand-finished surface achieves an exceptionally smooth and luxurious finish.
Durable, high-grade calfskin is used for the lining, completing the upper part of the shoe. The sole is finished with hand-hammered nails on two-tone premium leather, or with rubber for a more casual style.
These complex processes of the Goodyear welt construction, involving approximately 200 steps, are patiently and meticulously completed by skilled artisans with great care for each pair.
A Special Pair, Made to Order
It is truly a joy that the Scribe collection can now be made to order. This special pair from the Scribe series, a crystallization of the tradition and technology of the Swiss brand Bally, can be chosen from over ten models, five types of premium materials, and a wide array of beautiful colors. Sterling silver hardware gleams, and a metal crest adorns the sole. The buyer's name is also hand-written inside the shoe by the artisan as a standard feature.
Whether it's the Classic Derby, Oxford, Coin Loafer, Horsebit Loafer, or Desert Boot, each model features a classic yet modern design characteristic of a Swiss brand. The refined design, use of the finest materials, and meticulous details contribute to its perfection.
A special pair... Good dressers need shoes like these. This is a pattern order system. The delivery time is approximately 3 months. Prices start from ¥124,950.
