Rallying Approximately 300 Kilometers Daily in Vintage Cars
Corthay, a French shoe maison renowned for creating artistic footwear while preserving traditional techniques, was founded by Pierre Corthay. He honed his skills through apprenticeships with "Les Compagnons du Devoir," a traditional French guild of craftsmen, andJohn Lobbat Berluti, before launching Corthay in 1990. His impeccable craftsmanship and modern, elegant shoes have captivated discerning clientele, leading to boutiques in Paris, Tokyo, and other global cities.
The "Excellence Run" was conceived to celebrate Corthay's 21st anniversary. Pierre Corthay, himself an automotive enthusiast, envisioned an event that would allow guests to explore the craftsmanship of master artisans, whose skills deserve to be passed down through generations, all while enjoying a rally. Twenty-one guests were invited from around the world, including notable figures such as J. Alexander, renowned runway coach for collection models, and former top model Yasmin Le Bon.
The "Excellence Run" commenced on July 10th with a lavish dinner hosted by the Chairman and his wife of the Rothschild Group. The following day, participants embarked on a journey, driving approximately 300 kilometers daily in iconic vintage cars such as the Ferrari 250 California Spider, Aston Martin DB4 Convertible,Ferrari250 MM, andBentleyContinental Type R.
Over three days, participants rallied through various regions of Switzerland, Pierre's homeland. They experienced the passion of artisans firsthand, visiting a farm producing Gruyère, Switzerland's finest cheese, the atelier of "Luc Breton," said to craft the world's most beautiful violins, and the workshop of "Lecoultre," the sole Swiss cuckoo clock brand.
