Astonishingly Light, Weighing Under 300 Grams Per Shoe

The "adizero crazy light" Experience Report

Amidst the fierce competition among sports brands for ultra-lightweight basketball shoes, all touting "unbelievably light" as their catchphrase, adidas's "adizero crazy light" stands out. We tested the Derrick Rose model, packed with adidas's full commitment and expertise.

Vibrant Colors That Make a Statement, Even for Casual Wear

Mid-cut design, weighing under 300 grams per shoeThis astonishing lightness, which fundamentally overturns the conventional notion of basketball shoes being heavy blocks of rubber, is palpable from the moment you receive the boxed adizero crazy light after purchasing it. It's so light, you'll wonder if there's actually a basketball shoe inside the box.

According to adidas, numerous NBA players were surveyed during the development of this new model, and "lightness" was the most requested feature. adidas, which has continuously released lightweight football, running, and training shoes, has now poured its technological prowess into basketball shoes with the adizero crazy light.

Two types of insoles are included: the lightweight-focused Crazy Light (white) with countless perforations, and the cushioning-focused Crazy Comfort (black) with added thickness. To fully enjoy the lightness, we opted for the Crazy Light.

Basketball shoes typically have a wide, bulky image, but this black and red Derrick Rose model, partly due to its striking colorway, offers a sleek, slim profile that pairs effortlessly with jeans or cargo pants, which is a welcome bonus.

Upon actually wearing them, the heel offers excellent support, and the mid-cut design provides a sense of security. A light jog revealed good cushioning. They seem more than capable of handling on-court maneuvers like "dash, stop, and turn." Furthermore, the extensive use of mesh ensures breathability, making them truly practical for actual play. It's remarkable that such a streamlined design can still deliver a competitive basketball shoe.

While low-cut sneakers have dominated the scene, the arrival of the adizero crazy light might bring mid-cut styles into focus this autumn. We expect to see them frequently spotted on "Basketball Street" (commonly known as B-dori) in Shibuya Center Gai.
