Presenting Luxurious Styles That Evoke Mature Ease

When we choose clothes, high quality is, of course, a non-negotiable condition. What would be the next essential condition? Perhaps it's the ability to feel relaxed. This season's LANVIN COLLECTION, themed "Paradise on Earth," features designs that exude a sense of mature ease, with nuanced colors that seem subtly faded and materials that pursue lightness. How can we best utilize and style these items? We asked stylist Kenji Sakurai.

Accent the neckline with a scarf

“It’s 100% linen but has a sheen. The fabric also has stretch, so it’s very comfortable to wear. By minimizing the use of interlinings and padding in areas like the shoulders, it’s incredibly light. The piping on the lapels and pockets is also a nice touch. It’s great to wear it casually like a cardigan, or you could try a gradient effect by tying a scarf around your neck with a light blue shirt. Wearing a hat also adds a different character.”

Resort style with ethnic-inspired items

“This kind of vibrant rose color is a key color this season. I want to incorporate playful colors like this on holidays. With this jacket, I’d like to enjoy a relaxed feel by coordinating it with ethnic print pants and sandals, as I’ve done here. If you pair it with a knit tie and shirt, I think it would be perfectly acceptable for slightly more formal occasions. It would suit resort parties or similar settings.”

Classical coordination that leverages the color

“This blue-gray jacket, with its nuanced color like solaro, is made from a material that feels light and cool. The shoulder pads are very thin, making it easy to wear. Because it has a slightly faded, sophisticated nuance, I’ve kept the styling classical. I’ve added a Borsalino hat and an Hermès scarf around the neck. A large stole would also work well. Pairing it with gray pants would make it suitable for business settings. It also looks good with simple white pants, and with chocolate or chestnut-colored bottoms, it creates an even more classic, Yves Montand-esque impression.”

When wearing knitwear, choose pants with a focus on silhouette for balance

“This knit ensemble features a ribbed design that combines glossy materials with slightly different nuances, which is excellent. It’s 100% silk, so it has a premium feel. The key to the coordination is ‘lightness.’ I paired it with cropped pants that have a roll-up hem. When styling knitwear, the choice between a relaxed fit or a tighter fit is crucial for determining the overall look. This time, it’s a relaxed type, so I focused on the silhouette of the bottoms to achieve balance. The color scheme is a monotone, which is my preference right now.”

Thanks to its luxurious texture, dress it down with a T-shirt

“For a relaxed holiday, I think a cardigan-style jacket like this would be perfect. The subtle sheen gives it a luxurious feel. I’ve paired it with a T-shirt for a casual look, but with Dries Van Noten chino pants for the bottoms, keeping the overall style chic. The color palette is earth tones, again in a monotone.”
