For Girls Interested in Fashion, Is "Men's" Okay?
—First, please tell us why you chose this as a gift you "want." It seemed like you chose it without hesitation...
I chose it from the perspective of "something that would look good in my own closet."Riders Jacket (Tweed Riders Jacket / ¥80,850)I also considered if it would match my other clothes... I've worn this type of outerwear many times for shoots, but I was also drawn to the fact that I don't have anything like it in my personal wardrobe.
—I see. It's a relatively unusual item, isn't it?
This kind of sleeveless outerwear is, in a way, a challenging item to wear, and seems difficult to style... But this riders jacket has a calm color, and the tweed material means it can be worn in various situations.
—Indeed, it seems versatile.
That's right. Even so, the details are quite elaborate, and the lacing on the sides is really cute.
—You also chose a "gift to give" from the men's collection very quickly.
Yes... Actually, I think giving clothes as a gift is difficult unless it's to someone very close, like a lover.
—Certainly, it feels like a gift for people who are quite close.
I personally like men who wear shirts, so I chose this...Shirt (Paisley Print Shirt / ¥23,100)Shirts are versatile. And this "paisley pattern" is one of my favorite patterns. It's like throwing down a challenge, in a way, to wear something with a slightly sophisticated pattern like this well (laughs).
—Indeed, it feels like the intention would be conveyed if you received it from me (laughs).
But even people who are hesitant about bright colors or patterns can probably wear this kind of shirt. For those whose outfits tend to end in monochrome, just adding this one shirt could broaden their fashion horizons.
—I see. It's a calm color and a small paisley pattern. Thank you for the perfect answer (laughs). Were there any other items that caught your eye?
For accessories... a friend recently told me she "wants a masculine wallet." Actually, when I look for gifts for girls, I sometimes look in the men's section.
—That's interesting. Indeed, there were many masculine items in shoes and bags this fall/winter.
For friends who are very interested in fashion, they often prefer items made to men's specifications over those made to women's, because "the shape is classic and I like it."
—I feel like that tendency is present in accessories.
So when choosing accessories, I look at both (men's and women's) and choose something that won't be too common. I think wallets and gloves from Diesel would also be nice, though they are standard items.
—It's very helpful to know that "considering men's items for accessories is okay" since men might find it difficult to shop in the women's section. Compared to clothing, accessories are indeed easier to give...
After all, when choosing clothes as a surprise, it's best to choose something you can be certain about, like if the person has been saying "I want this" or if you're absolutely sure about a particular brand... Because it would be sad if they didn't wear it.
—That's true...
Not only the giver but also the receiver would be sad, I think. That's why I believe it's best to choose clothes with certainty. But clothes, as physical objects, are "large," so the joy is proportional to their size. Like, "Wow, is this really for me?" (laughs). If you're dating or partners, going shopping together to choose something that suits them is, of course, also a good option.
—Thank you very much.
