Men's Business Division Brand Manager Kazutoshi Kawashiro

We'll Teach You How to Wear "A Little Something Special" Right Now

"This season, linen is performing exceptionally well," says Kazutoshi Kawashiro, Brand Manager at DESIGNWORKS. "Linen is selling well across the board, from knits to shirts and jackets. For bottoms, colored pants and chinos are strong sellers, with white pants being particularly popular." This time, we'll introduce some "little something special" items that Mr. Kawashiro himself fell in love with and purchased.

The Latest Summer Version of Classic & Modern Elegance

Super Cool Biz started on June 1st, and at DESIGNWORKS, "This year, we're seeing more people actively purchasing short-sleeved shirts, thinking 'they look cool.' Cutaway collar shirts are particularly popular, selling better than button-downs. In addition to the ever-popular white pants, we also have a wide variety of 'sophisticated shorts' that are uniquely DESIGNWORKS," says Mr. Kawashiro. Let's check out the "business-casual" items from DESIGNWORKS, which are perfect for immediate use, following a strong spring season where "business suits sold well and ties remained steady."

The Go-To Polo for Those Who Like to Wear Their Collar Up!

"This polo shirt from the Italian total casual brand '11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi' is famous, with the butterfly print on the underside of the collar and the stitching on the left side being its brand icons. When I saw the new version after about three years, the print had become smaller, so I requested a 'mini-bespoke' order to bring it back to the size from three years ago. The butterfly seems to have been made smaller since last year.
This is a very chic-looking polo shirt, but the collar design is perfect for those who like to wear it popped, like Italian men. We offer it in smoky colors – white, black, light gray, medium gray, and olive green – all garment-dyed and washed.

A Value-Packed Shirt with High Sewing Quality

"These are shirts from 'Mario Muscariello,' a Neapolitan shirt workshop. Currently, Italian shirt manufacturers are all about casual shirts with shorter lengths and washed finishes for everyday wear. However, this shirt features hand-sewn details on the collar, shoulders, cuffs, buttonholes, and side gussets, and despite the many hand-stitched areas, it's very reasonably priced. This cutaway collar style is particularly popular.
The cutaway collar is designed for wearing as a single shirt, offering a neat look around the neck even without a jacket, and it can be worn both with and without a tie. It allows for effortless styling.

Linen Jacket with High Resilience: Your Most Versatile Piece

"This original linen jacket from DESIGNWORKS is made using linen fibers extracted through a 'water wrapping' process, which is difficult to implement today. Compared to regular linen, it has a crispness and firmness, recovers quickly from wrinkles, and is highly resistant to creasing. It also has a fresh, plump, and soft texture.
The buttons are 'charcoal-infused brass buttons with a raised design,' manufactured in the early 1900s. The charcoal inside the buttons regulates moisture, and as the buttons age, they develop a dull, beautiful luster. We offer both single and double-breasted styles, both with a slightly shorter length, making them suitable for casual wear.
Linen Blazer ¥115,500 (DESIGNWORKS / DEUX COURS DESIGNWORKS Ginza)

Uses FINX yarn for both warp and weft. The feel against the skin is different.

"Egyptian extra-long staple cotton is famous, but FINX yarn is spun from hand-picked cotton, and because it contains no impurities, the difference in its smooth texture is remarkable. These pants are made with a yarn specially ordered by DESIGNWORKS. Additionally, we've adopted a design element from bespoke tailoring – where the waistband tapers towards the hips – for these casual pants, enhancing their comfort.
These FINX pants are available in brown, as well as white, beige, and navy. Since they can be worn for business-casual occasions, enjoy coordinating them with linen tops."

White Bucks with a "Personal Special" Touch

At first glance, these white bucks might seem like classic shoes, but these Jimmy Choo shoes perfectly capture the current mood with their impeccable finish. They were truly love at first sight. Without deviating from our ideal image of white bucks, the last is well-crafted, and the sole is exquisite. They're not too delicate, nor too chunky, and they pair well with any bottoms, which is another charm. I plan to wear them extensively, except on rainy days.
