From Shoemaking to Forward Momentum: The Bally of Today

Bally and Shoes: The Passionate Beginning
In the mid-19th century, a man visited Paris. It was Carl Franz Bally, from Schönenwerd, Switzerland. Paris at that time was vibrant with everything he saw. Among it all, what captivated him were the women's shoes with beautiful embellishments he bought for his wife. Upon returning to Schönenwerd, he leveraged his father's rubber ribbon and silk manufacturing business to develop shoemaking techniques. These quickly gained renown among the townspeople and spread.—.
Bally's long story, now in its 161st year, begins with shoes. While it remains a leading Swiss luxury leather brand, expanding its reach to ready-to-wear lines as well as bags and other leather accessories, when asked about its origins, the answer is invariably "shoes."
So, why has a brand with such a long history continued to lead the way? It is undoubtedly due to its continuous progress, including technological innovation, material development, and updates to modern design. Bally's shoes are crafted with various ingenious details that reveal the brand's long-standing passion for footwear. Here, we would like to introduce just a glimpse of them.
From Dress Shoes to Sandals,
An Enduring Aesthetic
First, there is Bally's premium men's dress shoe line, "SCRIBE." The collection is named after an inspiration Max Bally, the founder C.F. Bally's grandson, had while staying at the "Hôtel Scribe" on Rue Scribe in Paris. The "Scribe" line is the perfect footwear for men with such an elegant, cosmopolitan lifestyle, reflecting the international guests he observed there.
Made-to-order services began in 2010, allowing for personalized custom shoes. Only the highest quality materials are used. Skilled artisans then meticulously craft each pair by hand using the 200-step Goodyear welt construction method.
Further evolving the "Scribe" line is "Scribe Legende." While made with the same construction, this line is lighter and more comfortable due to innovations in materials and other aspects. Although the soles are primarily rubber, the insertion of a single leather layer adds a fashionable touch, showcasing Bally's attention to detail.
Deck shoes are also a must-have for the upcoming season. This season, Bally introduces models with vibrant color accents on a white front. Brand icons, such as the Bally Stripe and the "B" motif, are subtly incorporated as design highlights.
For women, we first present the "Bally-Rina," launched in 2011. This new collection by Creative Directors Graeme Fidler and Michael Herz, who have led the brand since 2010, features a line of flat shoes that perfectly blend playfulness, modernity, and a relaxed feel. Made from incredibly soft lamb leather, they offer a snug, enveloping fit, feeling almost like room shoes. The charming detail of the red and white Bally Stripe incorporated into the ribbon design on the front is also noteworthy.
Next are the pumps, a consistently popular series within Bally's shoe lineup. Bally's history with pumps began with a slipper-like style called "Pardini." While they now offer a variety of designs, the comfort is guaranteed, thanks to features like the Styleflex construction with an insole extending to the center of the shoe, and urethane padding in the front half. Furthermore, even the underside of the shoe reveals a single piece of leather extending from the sole to the heel, meticulously designed for a beautiful silhouette when walking.

It's also fun to play with bold designs sometimes. Inspired by archives from the 1950s, this line features ribbon and tatting motifs. They are sure to perfectly complement a 1950s-inspired look you might want to try this spring and summer. The intricate lacing provides stability when worn, which is a welcome feature. The fact that each style, except for the ribbon versions, comes in a single color also adds to the joy of selection.
And for summer, marine style is indispensable. The wedge sole series introduced here features a beautiful silhouette where the heel tapers downwards when viewed from directly behind. Make a statement of coolness with navy and white color blocking from your feet up. The heel heights also offer a rich variety: 3cm, 7cm, and 10.5cm.
Bally's passion, poured into "shoes" since its founding. Technological innovation, the skilled craftsmanship passed down through generations, and a constantly evolving modern sensibility. Bally's passionate relationship with shoes promises to remain captivating.
