SEAMO's "Nagoya Edition" Now Airing!
"BACK TO HOME supported by Onitsuka Tiger," currently airing on the music specialty channel SPACE SHOWER TV (CS television), is receiving rave reviews. Each month, an artist returns to their hometown to explore fashion, music, and their origins, both past and present, under the theme "BACK TO HOME." Following Kobe, Sapporo, and Fukuoka, the artist featured in the fourth installment, airing in July 2010, is SEAMO, who is gearing up for TOKAI SUMMIT’10. He shares his affection for Nagoya, where he still lives.

SEAMO: Why He Continues to Live in Nagoya
I still live in Nagoya, but I rarely come out to the Sakae area where Nagoya PARCO is located, so I was looking forward to today's Onitsuka Tiger interview. The cityscape around PARCO seems to have changed quite a bit.
What I like about living in Nagoya is that places to hang out and shops are concentrated in the Sakae area. Also, Nagoya's roads are wide and easy to drive on! The blue guide signs are helpful! I tour many cities, but I always think Nagoya's blue signs are truly helpful.
I do support the Dragons and Grampus Eight. Living in Nagoya, it felt natural to have these teams close by, and I want to be proud of and cherish the teams in the city where I grew up.
My production base is now in Nagoya, and I do my recording locally. The reason I commute to Tokyo instead of living there might be a bit of stubbornness (laughs).
Onitsuka Tiger Has Cute Items for Girls Too!
I used to associate Onitsuka Tiger with a retro image, like pairing sneakers with vintage jeans, and a cool, hard-edged image for stylish guys who like domestic brands. But when I saw the products at the Nagoya PARCO store, I was surprised to find so many cute items for girls. My image of the brand has changed.
I love sneakers and often wear them on stage. During live performances, I have quick changes, and I even change my sneakers and coordinate them meticulously with my outfits. In my private life, I probably own about 100 pairs.
For today's sneakers, I chose the gold "OLYMPOS." I was debating between those and the green "TWEENY CHUKKA," which look like chukka boots, but the "OLYMPOS" has an elegant gold finish and the laces have a unique, cool feel. The bold gold sneakers and the all-over tiger mask print waist bag create a perfect color combination.
"Onitsuka Tiger, the Year of the Tiger, and Tiger Mask." I think it's cool. It clearly conveys what the brand protects and what it changes, which feels very new.
What is "BACK TO HOME" to SEAMO?
When I think of the keyword "BACK TO HOME," it has a somewhat nostalgic feel, like "Back 'n the day" in hip-hop.
BACK TO HOME──
Reflections in one's hometown.
One big reason I work in my hometown is seeing hip-hop artists in America represent their local areas – LA, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and so on. It's like it's normal to be active in the city where you grew up. When you're active independently, it's not like you absolutely have to be in Tokyo. Nagoya has the media infrastructure, and I can definitely make things happen here.
"TOKAI SUMMIT '10" will be held on July 24th and 25th at the Nagashima Spa Land lawn. This year too, we want to emphasize the unique character of TOKAI SUMMIT, create a great atmosphere unlike other festivals, and build towards the future. I'm looking forward to it myself. Please come and join us!
