MARGARET HOWELL | The Enduring Appeal of Margaret Howell Today

The Enduring Authenticity of Margaret Howell, Now
On March 4th, we stepped into the newly renovated 'Margaret Howell Jinnan' store, reopened after a decade-long major refurbishment. The spacious area, with its white walls, high ceilings, and thoughtfully placed, comforting wooden furniture, warmly embraces the clothes and goods displayed as the main focus, creating a space that feels both new and familiar.
In contemporary fashion, there's no such thing as a 100% new future form. For instance, a Margaret Howell linen blazer might be 40% past, 40% present, and 20% future (though this naturally varies from person to person). Similarly, a checked button-down shirt could be 20% past, 50% present, and 30% future. It's truly enjoyable to slip into new clothes while appreciating these hybrid qualities. Brands that allow for such thoughtful consideration during fitting are sure to become treasured possessions for years to come. When styled naturally with chinos, jeans, ties, and shoes, your personal expression of present, past, and future begins to shine.

Margaret Howell's first standalone store in Paris, 'Margaret Howell Madeleine', features an impressive forecourt of an old building and a grey approach. This store, which opened just before the Jinnan store, was also designed by architect William Russell, exuding Margaret Howell's signature modern and contemporary atmosphere.

Margaret Howell began in 1970 with the release of menswear shirts.
The axis of its clean and simple styling image is, after all, the shirt. The straightforward image of 'Howell means shirts' remains modern and nostalgic, regardless of the era. It truly symbolizes the hybrid nature of trends.
