District UNITED ARROWS Vol. 2

This season, UNITED ARROWS' directional theme is "Tangible." Items that evoke a nostalgic warmth through touch and texture feel fresh. At District UNITED ARROWS, jackets and suits that have been product-washed to achieve a familiar texture, such as tweed, catch the eye. The store, unique in all of Japan, boasts originality, with manager Takashi Yoshiwara stating, "We are constantly experimenting with our selection, in daily trials." This high level of originality is also part of its charm.

“This is one of our original three-piece suits. It’s characterized by a short length and a narrow hem, so it pairs well with slim pants. Since it’s sold as a set-up but also individually, you can buy just the jacket, which reflects our free-thinking approach. The knit is a casual Shetland, the same one Yoshiwara was wearing. It’s hard to find knits that work under a jacket, so it’s very useful. The shirt is an original clerical with a small collar, and the pants are also original with a 19cm hem width. The shoes are a District UNITED ARROWS bespoke model of ‘Zintala,’ for which I drew the design. The leather and suede are buffed together to create a vintage look from the start.”

We Want to Convey What's Exciting Right Now

“I had this six-button double-breasted jacket made because I wanted to wear one. This time, we’ve made the lapels slightly wider, the length a bit shorter, and the body slimmer. We’ve also luxuriously used the ‘Cloisonné buttons,’ an icon of District UNITED ARROWS blazers, adorning the cuffs with five, including spares. I really wanted to wear it myself (laughs). The pants are an old model from ‘Jil Sander’ that I’ve cut. This season, I feel like ‘cutting’ things (laughs). The inseam is 34 centimeters! Through this, we want to convey from the store what’s fun to wear right now.”

Next time, we will introduce "Suits Style."
