Focus on clean & comfort styles that lightly convey the seasonal feel of spring and summer
"Style over trends"──Margaret Howell's menswear collections do not adhere to a specific overarching theme each season, offering a comforting stability that prioritizes style over trends.
The 2012 Spring/Summer collection draws its primary inspiration from the archives of the 1980s, reinterpreted with contemporary fabrics and cuts, which feels refreshingly new.
The collection's key features include subtly incorporated tailoring elements and details, alongside casual expressions that convey a sense of relaxation.
The color palette, always a point of interest, features a gradation of grays from warm grey to stone, accented with vibrant blues and yellows. Contrasting stripes and borders are distinctive. The pairing of cool materials with these colors creates a cleaner impression.
Furthermore, the jacket lengths are intentionally kept shorter, creating a slightly boxy silhouette, while the trousers are more tapered – another nod to the 80s influence that is worth noting.
The exhibition also showcased a variety of collaboration items, suggesting that the 2012 Spring/Summer season will offer enjoyable and fresh styling possibilities.
