Light, Modern: A New Spring of "Light Feeling"

This season's highlights include coordinated outfits featuring short, boxy jackets and shirts, shirts made from shirt fabric, and baggy shorts or tapered trousers. The color palette is a gradation of blue, khaki, and grey, accented with "Tan" to create a new harmony.

Takashi Kumagai on "Clothes That Enhance Human Elegance"

"I recently had the chance to photograph Margaret Howell when she visited Japan," says Takashi Kumagai, who is active in a wide range of fields as a stylist, photographer, fashion designer, and buyer for select shops. "Margaret is more of an artist—like an architect, actress, or musician—than a designer. She's a wonderful woman, so I always ask her for private shoots when she's in town."

Jiro Adachi, Designer of "BEATITUDE," on the Appeal of Margaret Howell

In the late 1970s, as a high school student, Jiro Adachi frequented Beams in Harajuku five days a week, discovering the joy of clothing. This led him to join Beams, then participate in the founding of United Arrows, where he worked in planning, buying, and directing before becoming Creative Director for "BEAUTY & YOUTH." He now designs for his own fashion brand, "BEATITUDE." Here, he discusses contemporary menswear, drawing connections between his creative work and Margaret Howell's approach to clothing.
