The Charm of Recycled Glass: Embracing Its Unique Variations

Iittala, the renowned Finnish design brand celebrated for its pioneering approach to beauty and functionality, is increasingly focusing on product development using recycled glass. Recently, new items have been added to their '100% Recycled Glass Collection,' first launched in 2020.

In 2019, iittala became the first brand globally to operate a factory using solely waste glass. The company has set a goal to recycle or reuse all waste generated from its operations by 2030, aiming for zero landfill waste.
Last year's '100% Recycled Glass Collection' actively contributes to a circular economy by producing iconic brand pieces from recycled glass.
The new additions to the collection include the Raami bowl (Jasper Morrison, 2019–2020), the Bird by Toikka Sieppo bird (Oiva Toikka, 1972), a 120mm Alvar Aalto Collection vase (Alvar Aalto, 1936), and the Kastehelmi universal glass and bowl (Oiva Toikka, 1964).
These new and classic pieces, crafted from recycled glass, boast the same durability, transparency, and high quality as items made from new materials. Due to the nature of the material, small air bubbles may be visible within the glass, and colors can vary. These individual characteristics lend each piece a unique, one-of-a-kind appeal. Expected release in late September 2021.
