Japan Coca-Cola has launched '&Drip,' a capsule coffee maker that brews drip coffee from beans. It uses a special capsule brewing method to deliver the authentic taste of coffee, reminiscent of hand-drip coffee from a café. The design was overseen by nendo, led by designer Oki Sato, resulting in a sophisticated product that you'll want to place in your living room.

'&Drip' is an authentic capsule coffee maker that brews drip coffee from beans. While most current capsule coffee makers focus on espresso, '&Drip' was developed with the aim of creating a "black coffee that tastes delicious, like one carefully hand-dripped by a café master." It allows you to easily enjoy café-quality coffee at home with a single touch.

The secret to its deliciousness lies in the special capsules, made with barrier material to protect coffee beans from oxidation, and a drip method that extracts the full aroma and flavor of the beans. Roasted beans and drip filters are sealed in special capsules made with a barrier material that maintains an oxygen concentration of 1% or less, preserving the freshly roasted aroma and freshness until the moment of brewing. Additionally, grooves are incorporated into the sides of the capsule to ensure hot water evenly reaches the grounds. The brewing time, water volume, and drip time have been meticulously calibrated to replicate the slow, circular pouring motion of hand-drip brewing.

To use, simply insert a special capsule and press the button. Freshly brewed drip coffee is ready in about 60 seconds, and the internal cleaning can also be done easily with the touch of a button. Furthermore, a plastic bottle can be used instead of the water tank, which is a convenient feature that eliminates the need to clean the tank.

The design was overseen by nendo, led by Oki Sato. Aiming for a product that would enhance any living space like a piece of interior decor, it features a simple cube shape. The machine also signals the completion of brewing and low water levels with soft guitar melodies, creating a sophisticated café-like ambiance. It is available in two colors, dark red and white, and two types of capsules: regular black and café latte. The lineup is expected to expand in the future.
