A New Presence for Fire Extinguishers
The "Owl" fire extinguisher cover from Kaitak, a company specializing in sheet metal processing, steel sales, and product development, received the 2022 Good Design Award. It was highly praised for proposing a new aesthetic for fire extinguishers, harmonizing with spaces while prioritizing ease of use and safety.

Pictograms Ensure Immediate Recognition, Prioritizing Usability and Safety
The Good Design Award, inheriting the Good Design Product Selection System established in 1957, is a globally recognized design award that promotes and evaluates design in Japan. It attracts participation from numerous companies and organizations worldwide.
Many award-winning works were announced in 2022, including Kaitak's "Owl" fire extinguisher cover. "Owl" is a cover designed to discreetly and stylishly house fire extinguishers in various settings such as stores, offices, hospitals, and schools, blending seamlessly with any environment.
While fire extinguishers must be readily visible for safety, their conspicuousness can disrupt interior design, posing placement challenges. The "Owl" cover was conceived with the idea that it should not hide the extinguisher but rather seamlessly connect it with its surroundings. Leveraging Kaitak's expertise in bending techniques, extensive prototyping resulted in a minimalist design with curved lines, ensuring harmony with any space.
Furthermore, pictograms ensure immediate identification as a fire extinguisher, and the design prioritizes usability and safety, allowing for easy access in emergencies without being overly concealed.
The judges commended the gentle presence of the curved form, which integrates subtly into spaces while clearly signaling the presence of a fire extinguisher. They also praised the balanced use of pictograms and the product's beautiful, simple, and gentle aesthetic.
