An Attempt to Reconsider the "PARENTESI" Lamp

The "PARENTESI" lamp was completed based on Pio Manzù's original idea (photo above) as a light source that "slides vertically from ceiling to floor and rotates 360 degrees around its axis." The lamp was released by FLOS in 1972 and has been sold worldwide for over 40 years.

During this time, the world of lighting has fundamentally shifted from traditional bulbs to diverse new technologies. Konstantin Grcic, who designed the "OK," commented, "Lighting design is no longer limited to specific bulbs. Today, it means designing the light source itself. This challenged me to reconsider the "PARENTESI" lamp, which uses a traditional bulb to demonstrate the most effective and beautiful method. Reconsidering the "PARENTESI" lamp means carrying forward the intentions of Pio Manzù and Achille Castiglioni into the future."

Named "OK" After its "O" Shape and Konstantin Grcic's Initial "K"

The LED lamp "OK" features a disc-shaped light source suspended from the ceiling by a wire, which illuminates the space comprehensively. Its flat, round shape with a wire that smoothly operates from ceiling to floor like a rail is distinctive.


While inheriting the unique structure using wires, "OK" retains the original shape of the beautiful rosette designed by Achille Castiglioni. It is available in four colors: white, chrome, yellow, and black.

Konstantin Grcic
Born in Munich, Germany, in 1965. After training as a cabinetmaker at The John Makepeace School in the UK, he studied design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since establishing his own firm, Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design, in Munich in 1991, he has developed furniture, products, and lighting for leading global design companies such as Authentics, BD Ediciones, ClassiCon, Flos, Magis, Muji, Nespresso, and Vitra. Many of his works have received major international design awards. His "MAYDAY" lamp, released by FLOS, won the Compasso d'Oro award in 2001 and was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design is currently involved in several new projects, including FLOS's technical lighting systems.
