Unpacking the Appeal of Landscape Products Through Three Themes
With "Manmade Objects" as their guiding principle, Landscape Products creates a variety of items that enrich daily life. Their flagship store in Sendagaya, Tokyo, "Playmountain," showcases a diverse collection, all selected through their unique lens of "manmade objects." From Austrian brass ornaments and Californian foodstuffs to traditional crafts from Kagoshima, each item represents a meaningful encounter between Landscape Products and its creator. This event in Kanazawa introduces the diverse treasures they've discovered on their travels around the globe.
The event, "MAN MADE OBJECTS," unfolds over 90 days, divided into three thematic periods, each delving deeper into the world of Landscape Products. The first phase is "Origins," featuring an exhibition and sale of Landscape Products' original items alongside vintage pieces from their early days. This presents a rare chance to connect with the foundational elements of their appeal.
Following this, "Satsumano" begins on February 3rd (Tuesday). This segment highlights the allure of Kagoshima, the hometown of representative Shinichiro Nakamura, presented through their distinctive perspective. It will feature traditional Kagoshima crafts and works by emerging craft artists.
From March 3rd (Tuesday), "California" takes center stage. This section will showcase Heath Ceramics, tableware from California curated by Playmountain, alongside other beautiful and delicious finds from the region.
Additionally, a talk event is scheduled for January 10th (Saturday) with Shinichiro Nakamura, Hitoshi Okamoto, and Shuichiro Sakaguchi from Landscape Products, alongside Kazumi Tsuji, director of Monoto Hito.
The enduring appeal of Landscape Products lies in its connection to the humanity of its creators. This "MAN MADE OBJECTS" event offers a unique opportunity to understand their philosophy and the stories behind their creations.
