New works by artist Mitsuru Koga, playing with "color and form"

Exhibition "color" on the theme of "color" opens

Mitsuru Koga is an artist known for his objects made from stones and driftwood collected from the local Chigasaki coast, and for his trompe-l'oeil-like, mysterious paperworks. His works, which utilize the natural colors and materials, have captivated viewers by taking on a new beauty. An exhibition of these works by Koga, titled "color," will be held at CLASKA Gallery & Shop "DO."

Between Color and Form, Two and Three Dimensions

In his works, artist Mitsuru Koga enhances the inherent charm and beauty of natural materials while subtly altering them. Some creations possess a beauty as if they existed naturally, while others are playful paperworks born from a dialogue with the materials. Many might find themselves exclaiming, "He's done it again!" with each new release. This is because Koga's works possess a potential that far exceeds our expectations.

This autumn's "color" exhibition is Koga's fourth at CLASKA Gallery & Shop "DO," with "color" as its theme. Koga, who has always infused his works with a connection to nature, has this time focused on the effects born from the relationship between "color and color" and "color and form." The result is a series of gentle and beautiful paperworks that oscillate between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional.

He explains that he wanted to create works that embody the joy of endless play, like building with blocks. While seemingly serene at first glance, his works possess a mysterious atmosphere that unfolds within them. This is supported by his astonishing technical skill and concentration.

In addition to new works, several of his representative pieces from the past will also be on display. With a solo exhibition also planned for "colette" in Paris, Mitsuru Koga's work is gaining increasing attention. We encourage you to see and experience it firsthand.
