Apparel Designer Prints His Own Silk Screens
The "#catstudyhouse" features a bamboo frame enveloped in durable canvas, offering an open design on the top and sides while providing a cozy, relaxing space for cats and small dogs. Originally created by designer Takaaki Kurahashi for his own cat and posted on Instagram, it received enthusiastic responses from fellow cat owners. Incorporating feedback from friends who live with cats, the product was successfully brought to market.
The tent is incredibly lightweight, easily lifted with just a finger. It can be effortlessly moved to various locations like the living room or a bed, following the cat's movements. This also provides peace of mind for owners, allowing them to keep their pets within sight.
The collaboration partner this time is Ryuji Kamiyama, who runs the pet goods shop "FLAVOR." and is also active as an apparel designer. Kamiyama's signature organic patterns are hand-printed by himself using silk screen. While previously available in one size, it is now offered in two sizes to accommodate multi-cat households and larger felines.
"By intentionally omitting a floor, it can be set up without encroaching on the cat's favorite spots, so it seems to be readily accepted in any home. The version with Kamiyama's silk screen printing transcends typical pet products and serves as an accent to interior decor," says Kurahashi of 41st Century. Time spent with your beloved cat will surely become even more cherished.
