Expressing Morandi's "Gaze" Throughout the Space

Our daily lives are surrounded by "still life" objects such as furniture and sundries.Morandi, an Italian artist who gained global recognition for his persistent dedication to painting still lifes. To pay homage to him, on the 50th anniversary of his passing, an exhibition titled "STILL LIFE Exhibition - Homage to Giorgio Morandi" will feature a diverse collection of artworks by various artists.

Cassina's fabric collection "MORANDI," composed in the tonal palette used by Morandi, will be newly introduced. Applied to furniture upholstery, alongside lifestyle items that seem to have stepped out of his paintings, this collection will express Morandi's "gaze" throughout the entire space.

Furthermore, to commemorate the "STILL LIFE Exhibition - Homage to Giorgio Morandi," Cassina ixc. will publish original prints (by Megumi Ukisu, "Omaggio Morandi," 3 lithographs, limited edition of 20). We invite you to feel closer to art, to witness how "things" gradually come to life, and to enjoy the warmth created alongside furniture and sundries that seem to have emerged from Morandi's paintings.

Giorgio MORANDI (1890-1964)
Born in Bologna, Morandi is a globally renowned Italian painter. Three-quarters of his 1,400 oil paintings are still lifes, predominantly depicting simple vessels like pitchers, bottles, and vases. Using a limited palette of grays and beiges, he captured the rich expressions of his subjects with a gentle gaze. "Nothing is as abstract as reality."His works, which depict objects that seem to dissolve yet possess a definite presence, are both visible and invisible, revealing the secrets of all things in the world. They have profoundly influenced many other artists.
