Materials with a Strict Focus on Traceability

The site name, "10 Speed," refers to approximately 16 kilometers per hour, the speed of cycling. It evokes a lifestyle of "not rushing, and stopping to appreciate the beautiful sea and mountains when you see them."

The products offered are manufactured with meticulous attention to traceability from the farm to the final product, adhering to the international certification program of the Organic Content Standard (OCS). Dyeing is also carried out at OCS-certified facilities, offering an appealing range of 10 color variations for organic cotton.

The Design Concept of 10 Speed

At 10 Speed, we wanted to offer designs that provide vivid stimulation, especially during days filled with stress and fatigue.

For a lifestyle of leisurely afternoons, perhaps enjoying elegant afternoon tea while relaxing on the sofa and quietly flipping through a magazine, a simple, high-quality, timeless organic cotton blanket that commands attention with its mere presence might be the ultimate luxury.

However, for a lifestyle where days are consumed by work, laundry, grocery shopping, home repairs, and relationship troubles, even on days off, perhaps a blanket with a striking pattern and vibrant colors could coexist without feeling out of place, as if it were a natural part of the day's events.

With this in mind, we created designs with the hope that "there might be designs at 10 Speed that stimulate the right brain..." The fundamental principles of 10 Speed's design are as follows:

1. Clean Cut
2. Vivid, saturated colors, with a touch of white mixed in
3. Reproducible motifs (compositions, not paintings)

The Color Lineup of 10 Speed

In my twenties, I taught at a preparatory school for art and design university entrance exams. Since it was a practical skills test, teaching wasn't like teaching math or English. From my many students, I learned that while drawing skills improve with practice, no matter how unskilled one starts, color composition does not improve with practice alone.

In other words, drawing is about training and practice, while color sense is largely a matter of talent. In a class of 35, there's usually one student with a gift for color. I would ask that student to "just complete the first assignment, and then do as you please," while the other 34 students would be tasked with endlessly copying that genius's work. They were instructed not to think, not to express themselves, but only to copy. (Of course, this was understood to be a class for passing exams, not for nurturing artists.)

From these experiences, I believe that 10 Speed should feature beautiful color compositions.

Organic Cotton for Days When You Want to "Calm Down"

While "10 Speed" signifies the speed of a bicycle, it also represents the "Heart of a Rider." We hope that both cyclists and non-cyclists will occasionally slow down and calm down, enjoying a bright, comfortable, and refreshing interaction with organic cotton, perhaps like friends gazing at clouds together. This is our wish as we strive to live our own days with a "Calm Down" mindset.

10 Speed's pile wash towels (logo) and fringed towels (alphabet) start from ¥800 (excluding tax) for the base price. Cushion covers (logo) are ¥4,800, double gauze duvet covers are ¥12,000 for a single and ¥16,000 for a double, and women's long-sleeved pajamas start from ¥15,000.
