CURATOR’S CUBE | An Exhibition of Original Orchids and Graphics
CURATOR’S CUBE | Condensing the World of Yoichiro Uchida
An Exhibition of Wild Orchids and Graphics
PLACERWORKSHOP, an orchid specialty store based in Fukuoka, focuses on wild orchids (species orchids) rather than hybrids like Phalaenopsis. Alongside styling that presents a new charm of orchids, the graphic work by the owner, Yoichiro Uchida, under the name "MOGNO6." has also become a topic of conversation from various quarters. Now, an installation combining wild orchids and graphics will be unveiled at CURATOR’S CUBE in Toranomon.

The Allure of Untouched Orchids
Uchida grew up in a specialty store that handled orchids for gifts. He was familiar with various orchids from a young age, but he shifted his focus to species orchids after meeting a particular grower. Captivated by the presence of the orchids themselves, untouched by human hands, he began to specialize in species orchids. Later, the graphics he casually started drawing on the shop walls began to match the orchids, laying the foundation for the current PLACERWORKSHOP.
Currently, Uchida is active under two labels: PLACERWORKSHOP and MOGNO6. The exhibition at CURATOR’S CUBE will showcase spaces that leverage the unique characteristics of each. Workshops are also planned during the exhibition period. This is an exhibition that is sure to dispel preconceived notions about orchids and captivate visitors with their world. It is a must-visit.
