Masaru Suzuki Umbrella Exhibition - Textiles to Carry - Now Open
Masaru Suzuki, a textile designer whose work is highly anticipated, has presented collections for various domestic and international brands, including the venerable Finnish brand "marimekko," the Moomin textile brand "MOOMIN TRIBUTE WORKS," and his own original brand "OTTAIPNU." His exhibition, "Masaru Suzuki Umbrella Exhibition - Textiles to Carry -," will be held from Thursday, May 8th, at Spiral Garden (Spiral 1F).

Suzuki's textiles captivate with bold compositions, vibrant color palettes, and a depth of color born from overlapping prints. His motifs, ranging from warm depictions of animals and plants to humorous elements that naturally bring a smile to the viewer's face, showcase a world of textile artistry that radiates warmth and joy.
The "Masaru Suzuki Umbrella Exhibition - Textiles to Carry -," now in its third iteration, moves to Spiral Garden, an expansive, light-filled space. The exhibition will feature a comprehensive display of umbrellas previously released, alongside representative textile works. Umbrellas will also be available for purchase.

Masaru Suzuki
Textile designer and Associate Professor at Tokyo Zokei University. After graduating from Tama Art University's Department of Textile and Design, he worked at Hiroshi Awatsuji Design Office. He became independent in 1995 and established Unpiatto Inc. in 2002. Since 2005, he has organized the fabric brand "OTTAIPNU." His collections, featuring vibrant hand-printed fabrics produced using traditional techniques like hand-dyeing by artisans and dobby weaving on old looms, include towels, bath mats, handkerchiefs, and umbrellas, all imbued with the inherent charm of the material. In addition to his own brand, he has been designing for the long-established Finnish brand "marimekko" since 2010. He currently participates in projects for various domestic and international manufacturers and brands.
