BoConcept | New Collection by nendo Announced

A New Design Collaboration with nendo

New Collection Launch

The fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Danish functionality──BoConcept unveils its new collection designed by nendo. The lineup features 14 items, including furniture and accessories, inspired by "origami," a traditional Japanese craft.
The concept of origami, which transforms a two-dimensional sheet of paper into a three-dimensional form through folding, has evolved into a principle that combines two and three dimensions to create shape. This concept is reflected in all the designs of the new collection.

Inspired by the Japanese Art of Origami

The collection includes a chair with beautiful, origami-like shapes, an elegantly designed footstool with soft, rounded lines, and a sofa composed of four modular parts that can be folded and combined from a single continuous surface. The sofa, in particular, stands out with its elegant stitching, a nod to origami.

Claus Ditlev, BoConcept's Collection Director, states, "nendo's designs fulfill BoConcept's desire to deliver beautiful, modern, and functional pieces."

He continues, "nendo's work is pure and aesthetic, with a very minimalist touch. But it's more than that. nendo's designs add something extra. With a slight twist, they capture attention and create small moments. That is the value for the customer and what is needed in this era."

"Currently, Japanese influence is strongly visible in interior design trends. As a collaboration partner, nendo was at the top of our list."

What Do Nordic and Japanese Design Have in Common?

Oki Sato, founder of nendo, comments on the collaboration with BoConcept, noting the many commonalities between Nordic and Japanese design. "Above all, it's our approach to materials, incorporating a lot of natural materials like wood and leather. We strive to handle materials as directly as possible, without over-processing them. We also feel a shared consciousness in craftsmanship and the way time is invested in creation."

The BoConcept new collection features a sofa with variable forms that create relaxed moments, a table with a sculptural shape, and shelving units where two types of shelves align to create a random pattern. Additionally, there are wall-mounted storage units that transform storage into wall art, along with cups, plates, trays, cushions, and rugs created from origami net patterns, all featuring unexpected twists in material, shape, and color.

We hope you will experience the fusion born from the Japanese and Danish design cultures, where simplicity and authenticity are paramount.
