The second installment of "monmaya+", a project by Monma Tansu Store, a long-established Sendai Tansu maker.
Jin Kuramoto x Riko Takahashi Collaboration Product "Upright"
Monmaya Tansu Store, the most historic maker of Sendai Tansu, launched the project "monmaya+" in 2012, inviting artist Riko Takahashi as art director to pursue global craftsmanship.
Now, a new product series, "Upright", born from the collaboration between product designer Jin Kuramoto and Riko Takahashi, is set to be released.

Bringing traditional skills to the future: designers with shared vision unite.
In the autumn of 2012, globally active designers Tomoko Azumi and Riko Takahashi presented a console table that fully utilized Sendai Tansu techniques and fit seamlessly into contemporary spaces,console tableas the first "monmaya+" product.
The "Upright" series, the second installment of monmaya+, features diverse products finished with persimmon tannin, highlighting the wood grain. This collection harmonizes the traditional skills, honed over history, with modern living styles.
Monma Tansu Store opens its first street-level shop, "monmaya EDITION", in Sendai.
The "Upright" series will be available from March 1st (Saturday) at "monmaya EDITION", Monma Tansu Store's new street-level shop opening the same day in Sendai. In addition to Sendai Tansu and monmaya+ products, monmaya EDITION will also offer custom-made furniture.
On February 28th (Friday), to commemorate the opening, Jin Kuramoto and Riko Takahashi will host a talk show and workshops.
