amabro is known for products that fit modern lifestyles. True to their concept of "ART OF LIFE - Incorporating art into daily life -", they have launched a collection of mame-zara (small plates) that reinterprets traditional Arita pottery painting for the contemporary era.

The Arita region in Saga Prefecture is renowned for its "Arita ware." In the past, large pots and plates were actively produced here. However, in recent years, with the changing times, the dining culture of gathering around large plates has diminished, leading to a decrease in demand.
Large plates, once symbols of family gatherings and enhancers of seasonal celebrations, were left unfinished, with only the underglaze (gosu) applied, and a large quantity of them ended up with no purpose.
In 2009, amabro focused on this issue, layering new designs onto the graphical motifs born from their imperfection, transforming them into art (KOTTO COLLECTION).
And now, after further years have passed, we turn our attention to the newly announced "INCOMPLETE COLLECTION" this year. These are mame-zara that are scaled-down versions of large plates, with a size perfect for appetizers or side dishes.
While the bold designs, featuring gosu and gold accents on negative space, are striking, the approximately 10cm diameter makes them perfectly suited for everyday use. This "incomplete collection," a reimagining of Arita ware, is something we wish to pass on to the future as a new tradition.
