Combining Craftsmanship with Durability and Beauty
Kurokawa Kaban was founded in the Meiji era as a specialty bag store in Toyama. Known for their blend of usability and durability, they became the leading bag specialty store in "Sogawa San-chome," a major commercial hub on the Sea of Japan coast, earning strong local support.
Randoseru have been around for over 100 years, and they remain a long-selling item meticulously crafted by Kurokawa Kaban. The perfect functional beauty, born from artisanal skill, reflects the breath of history that Kurokawa Kaban embodies.
Eighteen years ago, the "Habataku? Randoseru" (Flapping? Randoseru) was created to reduce the physical burden on children caused by the increasing size of school materials. Since then, it has been continuously updated based on customer feedback, resulting in randoseru that are larger, lighter, yet still durable and resistant to rain and snow.
These randoseru are made using carefully selected materials, with meticulous hand-stitching and craftsmanship. The detailed handiwork, characteristic of "workshop-style randoseru," achieves a perfect balance of beauty and durability.
Each product comes with a "Passport" guaranteeing its Japanese origin, a serial number for individual identification, and a quality guarantee card. This ensures six years of repair support.

To showcase the appeal of the "Habataku? Randoseru,"
the dedicated randoseru websitewas relaunched on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. New models were announced simultaneously.
The revamped site now allows users to select products not only by model but also by color, showing which models are available in a chosen hue. New features include a "Compare Specs" section, offering at-a-glance details on materials, weight, and color options for each model, and a page illustrating the size differences between the "Big" and "Wide" models.
The 2022 "Habataku? Randoseru" collection features six lines.
These include the premium "Takumi Series," the tactile "Bridle Series," the "Cordovan Series" generously using high-quality cordovan, the "Smooth Cowhide Series" balancing gloss and practicality, the "Shibo Cowhide Series" designed to resist scuffs, and the "Clarino®F Series" made from lightweight yet durable Clarino material.
Among these, new additions include lightweight Big Light models in "Smooth Cowhide" and "Shibo Cowhide," as well as a large-capacity Wide+ model in "Shibo Cowhide." These more practical options expand the already diverse lineup.
Additionally, new colors have been added to the "Lightweight Clarino®F Wide+" and "Cordovan Wide" models. These thoughtful details are designed to ensure children enjoy their six years of school commutes.
After graduation, Kurokawa Kaban offers a semi-custom remaking service for randoseru. Customers can choose between a "Mini Randoseru" or a set comprising a "Pen Case, two Leather-Wrapped Ballpoint Pens, and a Strap," all crafted from a single used randoseru.
The company believes that cherishing and using items for a long time contributes to ecology. To this end, they avoid peak production times and remake each randoseru by hand. This commitment reflects their philosophy of creating products that accompany children from their school entrance through graduation and into their future.
