IDÉE, which proposes original furniture and interior products under the theme of "exploring life, living with aesthetics," is opening its new concept store, "IDÉE TOKYO," on Monday, August 3, 2020.
The location is the B1 floor of "Gransta Tokyo," JR East's largest station-based commercial facility.
Since its inception in 1983 as an interior brand, IDÉE has not only offered products in design, art, and furniture but has also collaborated with numerous designers and artists both domestically and internationally, releasing a variety of creations into the world.
At this new store, they have enlisted Naoto Fukasawa, a leading Japanese designer, as curator. He has meticulously selected items from the realms of design, folk craft, and art, each chosen with a discerning eye for contemporary living.
The gallery, located at the back of the store, will host exhibitions of solo shows by domestic and international artists and various projects, with themes changing monthly.
The opening exhibition features a solo show by ceramic artist Taizo Kuroda. This is a rare opportunity to encounter his breathtakingly beautiful white porcelain works within a station.
You are sure to discover excellent designs you've never seen before, and things of value you hadn't noticed. At this time of transition, when lifestyles and values are shifting, it is precisely stores like this, offering carefully selected items that bring joy and enrichment to life, that we should look forward to.
