BEAMS CREATE Oversees Original Goods. 18 Items Released

Located within Okazaki Park in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, an area also home to Heian Shrine and The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, the Kyoto City Museum of Art, which opened in 1933, has been renovated by architects Jun Aoki and Tezzo Nishizawa. It reopened in May 2020 as the "Kyocera Museum of Art, Kyoto." The original merchandise has also been renewed, with BEAMS CREATE overseeing the curation.

In White and Dark Gray: Souvenir Goods Blending Tradition and Innovation

The original merchandise for the newly reopened "Kyocera Museum of Art, Kyoto" was handled by "BEAMS CREATE," the creative agency within the select shop BEAMS. In response to the museum's design, conceived by architect Jun Aoki, who also serves as the museum's director, and its new logo, products were developed based on a palette of white and dark gray.

The lineup includes a total of 18 items, such as canisters (tea caddies), A5-size ring notebooks, memo pads, and dry sweets (higashi) in collaboration with Kameya Norikatsu, a renowned Kyoto confectioner.
The collection also features thoughtfully designed items for everyday use, making them recommended not only as gifts but also for personal purchase. The original merchandise is available at "ART LAB KYOTO," the museum shop adjacent to the museum.
The Kyocera Museum of Art, Kyoto is currently open by advance reservation and with limited capacity. The museum had initially restricted visitors to Kyoto Prefecture residents as a COVID-19 measure, but this restriction will be lifted starting Friday the 19th (details on the website).
