Ryuji Kamiyama, who improvises freely with any material, and Shu Murakami, who paints with a focus on abstraction while building his compositions. These two painters, with their contrasting styles, hit it off over drinks and the idea for “SHUT UP AND DRINK,” which evolved into an exhibition in 2018. The show returns for its second run from Friday, December 13, 2019, at BRICK ＆ MORTAR Nakameguro.

The “SHUT UP AND DRINK” exhibition features main works by Ryuji Kamiyama, including painted pieces, and works by Shu Murakami utilizing Arita ware vases. Collaborative canvas works and art pieces such as T-shirts and stickers will also be on display.

Additionally, a limited edition vase, “Tsubo Chin,” crafted from ceramics (Hasami ware) and based on an icon born during a live painting session last year, will be available for purchase.

This year, in addition to the main exhibition, satellite events will be held at two eyewear specialty stores: BLINK BASE and BLINK GAIENMAE.

At BLINK BASE, a special limited edition of “Tsubo Chin” will be sold, and pre-orders will be accepted for sunglasses designed by Ryuji Kamiyama, released by the California-born eyewear brand SABRE.

BLINK GAIENMAE will host a pop-up event featuring the product brand “amabro” and a silk-screen T-shirt event by Shu Murakami.

This event, expanding across Nakameguro, Omotesando, and Gaienmae, offers a chance to fully immerse yourself in the worlds of Ryuji Kamiyama and Shu Murakami. We hope you'll enjoy it as part of a winter stroll.
