Reduce excess waste and savor more delicious coffee.

This autumn, the coffee event "COFFEE COLLECTION around Kanda Nishikicho 2019" will be held in Kanda.
At the venue, as an initiative to enhance the appeal of coffee, a new paper lid called "stacking paper lid," designed by product designer Fumie Shibata, and natural spring water, served at "°C (d-ci)," a capsule hotel specializing in saunas operated by Nine Hours, will be used.
The "stacking paper lid" is a new paper lid that considers both taste and the environment.
A large part of taste is influenced by our sense of smell, and it is said that to fully appreciate the aroma and flavor of coffee, it is best not to cover the cup with a lid.
The lid, which perfectly stacks onto the paper cup, has the minimum necessary functions for carrying. When drinking, it can be removed to drink directly, allowing you to fully enjoy the coffee's original aroma and flavor.
Furthermore, by refraining from using the lid when not needed, excess waste can be reduced.
Its origins trace back to "Takeo Paper Show 2006."
Based on the work presented by product designer Fumie Shibata at this event, development was pursued by four entities: Shibata herself, Takeo (a trading company specializing in paper that organizes the Paper Show), Japan Dixie (a paper cup manufacturer), and GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS.
Through organic collaboration, a structure that perfectly stacks onto the paper cup was achieved, making it difficult to remove, while minimizing the size and amount of paper used to ensure ease of use.
The Kanda area, where the event will be held, is known for its many traditional coffee shops and its deeply rooted coffee culture. On this day, through the project "DISCOVER," which brings together coffee roasters serving the world's finest cups, specialty coffee will gather in Kanda Nishikicho.
You can experience the differences in beans and roasting methods chosen by each shop, as well as the individuality of each barista. These will be served using the "stacking paper lid."
Amidst global discussions about the environmental impact of plastic waste, why not try reducing excess waste and savoring even more delicious coffee by choosing a way of drinking that suits your purpose?
Small initiatives like these should lead to environmental conservation in the truest sense. And the fact that it also enhances the coffee's flavor is a welcome bonus, isn't it?
