Oiva Toikka was a leading Finnish glass designer. He passed away at the age of 87 this past April. New releases from two of his popular series, created during his lifetime, will be available this autumn.

One is the "Birds by Toikka" series, featuring bird objects that have been produced for over 40 years.

The seasonal birds for Autumn 2019 are the "Kingfisher," a vibrant kingfisher with a red beak and sea-blue body, and "Pekka-siini," an elegant bird in a seated pose, in copper.

The "Kingfisher" is a piece that combines multiple shades of transparent colored glass, allowing for enjoyment of its beautiful color contrasts.

Meanwhile, for "Pekka-siini," a metallic powder is dusted onto the body before blowing, creating a beautiful pattern of elongated speckles that shift through various tones.

Another release comes from the "Flora" series, known for its embossed floral patterns, with new tumblers, bowls, and pitchers.

The colors available are clear, aqua, and a vibrant Seville orange that seems to carry the autumn air.

The delicate patterns, created using a thin mouth-blown technique, are truly masterpieces born from Finland's love of nature.

"Birds by Toikka" and "Flora" are both special products produced irregularly. This season's production will be exclusively available at Iittala shops.
