DYK | Design Your Kitchen

“Design Your Kitchen”: Beyond what you cook, consider the tools you use. Kitchenware that elevates your culinary aesthetic.

Founded in 1863 in Sanjo, Niigata, Takagi began as a saw manufacturer. For over 150 years, it has engaged in craftsmanship as a specialized trading company, dealing in carpentry tools and more. Now, Takagi has channeled the precise techniques and philosophy cultivated through this history into DYK (Daiku), a kitchen tool brand. What does this venerable trading company bring to the world of kitchenware?

Kitchenware to Inspire Your Personal Culinary Aesthetic

DYK is a kitchen tool brand born from the precise techniques and philosophy cultivated in the manufacturing of carpentry tools.
The name DYK is an acronym for “Design Your Kitchen,” and also refers to the carpentry tools that are its origin.
Carpenters historically understood the “subtle art of combination,” a concept that guided them to precisely grasp the compatibility of different tools and use them skillfully.
Based on this philosophy, Keita Suzuki and his team at PRODUCT DESIGN CENTER designed tools with functionality and coherence.
Their theme is “steadfast innovation,” and they are a rising design firm handling projects ranging from soy sauce dispensers to railway cars.
The “subtle art of combination” applies equally to cooking. By considering the compatibility of each tool and combining them thoughtfully, delicious dishes are created.
The knives, central to DYK, are available in five carefully selected functional types. Their double-bevel grinding technique, a testament to the know-how accumulated as a cutlery specialist, ensures exceptional sharpness and performance.
Ladles, spatulas, tongs, and other tools feature ergonomic, three-dimensional handles designed for a comfortable grip and are compatible with dedicated storage solutions.
Dishwasher-safe and easy to clean, they offer practical convenience and high maintainability.
Choosing your tools is the first step in creating a dish. “Design Your Kitchen”—bring the aesthetic sensibility evoked by DYK into your own kitchen.
