Aalto's Iconic Flower Vase

The Aalto vase, known as an icon of Finnish design legend Alvar Aalto, is being revived from the archives with an elegant line. Items in the theme color 'Linen' will also be released sequentially this spring and summer.

The flower vase by Finnish design luminary Alvar Aalto is recognized as a symbol of Nordic design.
Its flowing form is deeply inspired by the nature of his native Finland. The asymmetrically shaped wave form won an honorable mention at the 1937 Paris International Exposition, achieving international acclaim.
This season, iittala is reviving elegant variations from Aalto's classic archives. Concurrently, items in the 2020 theme color 'Linen' are also planned for release.
The theme color Linen, inspired by flax fields, expresses the coolness and freshness of the linen material. Like linen fabric, the glass in the linen hue possesses a natural luster that highlights fine details, created through iittala's unique knowledge of pigments and color, cultivated over many years.
Furthermore, the glass color is integrated into the raw materials and is achieved through the artisans' processes of mouth-blowing, heating, molding, and cooling.
This spring and summer, alongside the Aalto vase in the year's color Linen, a lineup including candleholders will be available. With their soft, organic shapes that blend functionality and beauty, and the fresh Linen color, they seem poised to complement any interior.
