Clothing and accessories dyed with persimmon tannin and indigo, handmade knives (nakiri, kiritsuke, deba), and more, on display and for sale.
The "omoto" Exhibition: "Wa" of Living, Now Open
"omoto" is a brand created by the husband-and-wife duo Tomoko Suzuki, who produces indigo and persimmon tannin dyed textiles in Tokyo and Iwaki, and Yasuto Suzuki, who crafts knives and tools by forging iron. They face daily life, continuing their meticulous work rooted in living. This time, the "omoto" Exhibition: "Wa" of Living will be held at KAGURE Omotesando from Friday, November 22nd to Sunday, December 1st.

Yasuto Suzuki's Traveling Knife Sharpening Service: Held Daily During the Exhibition
On display and for sale will be various knives, paper knives, Japanese nails, and clasps forged by Yasuto, alongside Tomoko's signature smocks, shirts, skirts, and fabric accessories such as bags and pot holders. This year, works by artists with whom omoto collaborates will also be exhibited and sold, with workshops planned.

Tomoko SUZUKI
Born in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. After graduating from a local vocational school and working for a sewing company, she moved to Tokyo in 2003. While working as a pattern maker for a major apparel manufacturer, she began her own original creations, focusing on clothing. She later became independent and launched "omoto" in 2009. She currently divides her time between her home studio in Setagaya and Iwaki for her creative activities.
Yasuto SUZUKI
Hailing from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. After graduating from a vocational school specializing in men's fashion, he apprenticed under the late Kensuke Ishizu. In his 40s, he returned to Iwaki and began his path as a knife sharpener. He apprenticed under the local blacksmith Shozo Hasegawa, acquiring forging techniques while simultaneously participating in craft events within and outside the prefecture.
