YAMAHA DESIGN 50TH ANNIVERSARY "DESIGN RECIPE" EXHIBITION
During Tokyo Design Week, the AXIS Gallery will host the "DESIGN RECIPE" exhibition, celebrating 50 years of Yamaha Design, from November 1st (Friday). Building upon the design exhibition presented at the Saint-Étienne International Design Biennale in France this past March, the show has been further enriched, offering a glimpse into the evolution and depth of Yamaha's design over five decades, including prototypes making their Japanese debut.

From Prototypes to Historic Instruments: A Showcase of Design
The "DESIGN RECIPE" exhibition frames Yamaha's design methodology as a "recipe," systematizing its approach through key concepts to illustrate the realization of Yamaha's design philosophy. This reveals the distinctiveness of design as a corporate culture.
What is “DESIGN RECIPE”？—Design is the act of "giving form to ideas." These "ideas" are the core concepts that form the basis of product value, while "form" possesses the power to convey these concepts instantly and intuitively.
This exhibition explores Yamaha Design Laboratory's philosophy and methods, which emphasize the "thinking about thinking" process when translating concepts into concrete designs, presented metaphorically as cooking methods (recipes).
Additionally, as related events, the exhibition will be accompanied by the "Two Yamahas. One Idea." joint exhibition of award-winning products from the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2013, held at Canopy Square, Tokyo Midtown, and the Graphic Grand Prix by Yamaha at the Tokyo Designers Week main venue.
