"Zuan" Painted Across the Gallery Walls
With a fluid, almost magical brush, he creates "zuan" (designs). This exhibition centers on "zuan," featuring collaborations with various materials. Two pieces will be presented in collaboration with "Kamisoe," a karakami paper workshop in Nishijin, Kyoto. The resulting "zuan" defy easy categorization as either Japanese or Western, possessing a unique charm.



New designs are also planned for his popular woodblock print handkerchiefs. The dyeing method, meticulously applying each color with a separate woodblock, results in a finish imbued with the warmth of handmade craftsmanship. This exhibition will display the woodblocks used for the prints, offering a glimpse into their creation.


The exhibition will also feature a special installation: "zuan" themed around "plants and small creatures like birds and insects" will be painted across the gallery walls. Furthermore, handmade items created specifically for this exhibition will be available for purchase on October 26 (Saturday) and 27 (Sunday).



This is a precious opportunity to experience works created using diverse materials and techniques, including ceramics, fabrics, and prints. Through various spatial arrangements and collaborations, this exhibition promises to fully express Kagoshima's unique appeal.
