Based on second-grade ceramics and wood
Kamiyama's silkscreen performances use customers' well-worn T-shirts and bags as canvases for original prints. By layering new designs, he breathes new life into objects, deepening users' affection and bringing smiles. Witnessing the chain reaction of happiness through his prints, Kamiyama began focusing on "second-grade" ceramics that had fallen out of favor around the autumn of 2012.
After researching the current state of second-grade ceramics and handling them firsthand, the concept for "Layer for 3R" solidified: "Can I apply the techniques I've honed with silkscreen to these ceramics?" He then devoted himself to working with plates and cups, applying his touch with pens and glazes. The pieces were fired in the kiln of Yusuke Kido, a ceramic artist based in Kagoshima (ONE KILN).
Concurrently, he began producing wooden letters by silkscreening alphabets onto discarded wood scraps he frequently encountered. These were added to the project's lineup.
Transformed by Kamiyama's touch from second-grade items into "one-and-only" products, they seem vibrantly alive with their heated layers. We encourage you to experience them firsthand.
