Gallery Talk (Yuko Okazaki x Tomio Koyama) to be held from 6:30 PM on Wednesday, September 4th.
Artist Yuko Okazaki states, "I am delighted to be holding my second solo exhibition at Tomio Koyama Gallery. This marks my first solo show in about a year, since August of last year."
This will be my first solo exhibition in a white box space, presenting a new challenge for my work. I will be presenting pieces that return to the origin of my representative dragonfly vessels.
The intricate patterns on the dragonfly's wings, spreading limitlessly, evoke a sense of expansion, yet also possess a subtly unsettling quality, like a trap. I will be presenting new works that focus on close-ups of these wings.
Working energetically amidst the beautiful scenery surrounded by sea and mountains, Okazaki will present her "rakuan" vessels, inspired by gracefully spreading wings, in an interpretation that marks her first attempt at this form. Attention is drawn to these ambitious works featuring motifs perfectly suited for the autumn season.
An opening reception will be held from 6:00 PM on the exhibition's opening day, Wednesday, September 4th, followed by a gallery talk with Tomio Koyama at 6:30 PM.
